All limits are V1 defaults and configurable by the operator. Translation quota is measured in translated characters; out of quota, messages still send and readers fall back to the original.

Spin up a short-lived room for a small group, share a link, and let a few people join anonymously — just a nickname and a preferred language, no RosettaChat account. It sits between 1:1 direct chat and a full team workspace, and every message, translation, and attachment counts toward your own Personal plan, never a guest’s.

- Temporary rooms are part of your Personal plan — Personal Pro raises room limits and comes with a larger translation quota to absorb small group translation.
- Guests join with just a nickname and language — they never need an account and never pay; all usage is yours.
- Pro rooms extend by up to 7 days at a time, within a 30-day total lifetime, and only inside the final 24 hours before expiry.
- Expired rooms are cleaned up and their content is crypto-shredded; purged rooms can’t be revived.
Questions, answered
What’s the difference between Personal and Workspace plans?
Personal covers your 1:1 direct chat — it follows you across any workspace. Workspace covers a team’s channels, members, and integrations. They’re billed separately, so upgrading one never changes the other.
How is direct chat usage counted?
Direct messages are charged to the sender’s personal quota; translation is charged to the receiver’s personal quota. Direct chat never consumes workspace seats or workspace quota.
How is translation usage measured?
In translated characters, not provider tokens — it’s easier to reason about. Workspace usage is the source message length times the number of stored translations.
What happens when I run out of translation quota?
Messages still send. New AI translations just pause, and readers fall back to the original message until your quota resets or you upgrade.
How are Temporary Rooms billed?
Temporary Rooms are part of your Personal plan. Messages, translations, and attachments count toward your own Personal usage — never a guest’s, since guests have no plan and pay nothing. Personal Pro raises how many rooms you can run, their lifetime, and your translation quota.
Do I need a credit card to start?
No. Personal Free and Free Workspace are open at launch — you only verify your email before creating a workspace.
